All you ever wanted to know about blogging, forum posting, commenting, and private messages:

What is the difference between a blog entry and forum post?

When you register, you automatically recieve access to your own personal blog.  You can add to your blog right away and start posting.  However it is important to know the difference between blogging and a forum post.  A blog entry should be a self contained article that does not need another person to contribute. Your blog entries should stand on their own and provide complete thoughts.  Once you have posted an entry into your blog, it will appear both on your blog page and in the blogs archive instantly.  Other members will be allowed to comment on your blog and give their thoughts on the subject, but remember active conversations should stay cohesive.  Follow up articles or thoughts on other members' blogs are not for comments but rather for our private messaging system.  You may also want to look over both the forum rules and blogging rules.

A forum post is a community discussion or quick thought on an idea you have.  The forums are the perfect place for you and the rest of the community to talk as long as you want on a subject.  The forums are for more fun conversations or even some serious ones, but aren't required for you to use complete sentences or produce a fact.

Remember:  Blog entries are like articles and forums and private messages are for discussion!

What about comments versus private messages?

A comment should refer to the article posted.  A private message while like the forums is not intended for community discussion, but rather a two way conversation and vice versa for a forum post.

How do I?

If you have any questions please read the our FAQ.  It contains several how-to's as well as a lot of answers to common questions.  If you don't find your answer there, please feel free to contact us!  We also have a website suggestion forum, where you can let us know what we should be adding to make your experience better here.

Most Importantly:

Please follow the rules (Blog, Forum) as well as have fun and welcome to the brigade!
